Antônio Rogério Nogueira, aka "Minotoro" (born June 2, 1976 in Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil) is a professional mixed martial arts fighter from Brazil. He is the twin brother of Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira (Minotauro). Rogério holds notable wins over Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba, Alistair Overeem, Guy Mezger and Tsuyoshi Kohsaka. Also a proficient amateur boxer, he was the 2006 and 2007 Brazilian Super Heavyweight Champion. He also won a bronze medal in the 2007 Pan American Games.
Antônio Rogério Nogueira hails from the town of Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil, and trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Ricardo de la Riva. Along with his brother, Antônio trains with Black House MMA team.
Although they are identical twins, Rogério can be distinguished from his brother by his lighter weight, and by the presence of a scar on his brother's lower back.
He is also an instructor at the fight club in Miami, FL, along with his brother, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, and UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva and No-Gi World Champion, Daniel Valverde.
MMA Career
Antônio competed in the Middleweight division of the PRIDE Fighting Championships. His MMA debut was in 2001 with a TKO victory over Shamoji Fujii. A grappling specialist, most of Nogueira's wins thus far have been by decision or use of a submission hold.
On May 20, 2008 he officially signed with clothing company turned MMA promotion Affliction to fight at their inaugural event, Affliction Banned, against Vernon White. However, White was pulled from the card following failing a drug test. He was replaced by Edwin Dewees, whom Nogueira defeated by TKO.
Boxing Career
Antônio competes in the Super Heavyweight division. In 2006 he won the Brazilian Championship and the South American Games. His most recent accomplishment is a bronze medal, which he won in the 2007 Pan American Games (Super Heavyweight division 91+ kg).
