Ben Daniel Crenshaw is an American professional golfer who competes on the PGA Tour and on the Champions Tour. He was born on January 11, 1952 in Austin, Texas.
Crenshaw turned professional in 1973. By winning the 1973 Texas Open, he became the 2nd player in PGA Tour history to win in his very first event as a member of the PGA Tour. In the mid-1980s, Crenshaw suffered from Graves' disease, yet he continued amassing victories, including two Masters in 1984 and in 1995.
Crenshaw is recognized as one of the best putters on the PGA Tour. His longtime instructor, Harvey Penick, taught him his smooth and graceful stroke which allowed him to dominate even in the speediest of greens.
In 2002, Crenshaw, together with his friend and instructor Penick, was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
