Bernard Hopkins, nicknamed "The Executioner", is a professional boxer known for holding the Middleweight World Championship title for ten years, becoming the oldest man to hold the Middleweight Boxing Championship title. He is also the 4th boxer in The Ring Magazine's Pound for Pound Top 10 rankings of boxers in the world. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 15, 1965.

Hopkins started his professional career as a light heavyweight in 1988, losing in his debut match to Clinton Mitchell. After this loss, he then won the next 22 matches from 1990 to 1993 until his defeat to Roy Jones, Jr. on May 22, 1993.

From 1988 to 2008 Hopkins had a total of 56 fights, winning 49 of them (32 by knockouts) and lost in 5. A number of his fights were noteworthy, involving opponents of caliber like Joe Calzaghe, Oscar De La Hoya and Roy Jones, Jr.
