Charles Lester Frye is a professional football player currently signed as a quarterback for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He was born in Norwalk, Ohio on August 28, 1981.
Frye declared eligible for the 2005 NFL Draft and was selected in the third round as the 67th overall pick by the Cleveland Browns. He passed for 226 yards with two touchdowns to a fellow rookie Braylon Edwards, and set a Browns rookie record for a single game with a 136.7 passer rating.
During his time with the Browns, Frye was cheered by a pair of fans known as "Charlie's Fryes", who would wear french-fry costumes purportedly to honor him. He was also honored by Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic, by his declaration of Friday, November 5th, 2004 as "Frye-day", in honor of his #5 jersey.
On September 11, 2007, Frye was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. He became an unrestricted free agent following the 2008 season and signed with the Oakland Raiders on June 8, 2009.
