Daniel Alberto Cabrera Cruz is a professional baseball player who is currently a free agent. He was previously signed with the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was released on May 26, 2009 after being designated for assignment.
Cabrera was originally signed by the Baltimore Orioles as an amateur in 1999. He made his MLB debut on May 13,2004 for the Orioles. After playing for five seasons, he was not retained in 2008 and was free to sign a one-year deal with the Washington Nationals on December 29, 2008.
Cabrera has three known pitches in his repertoire: a fastball, a changeup and a curveball. His fastball is his best pitch, throwing it consistently in the upper 90s with significant sink and tailing action. Cabrera throws two types of curveballs, one is a hard curve that behaves like a slurve around mid-upper 80s, and the other is a looping, 12-6 curveball that tops out in the high 70s.
