 Mini Biography

Darren McFadden is a professional football running back who currently plays for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He was noted for being the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy for two consecutive years, in 2006 and 2007.

McFadden declared for the 2008 NFL Draft as a highly touted recruit, shy of his senior year at the University of Arkansas. In the previous two seasons, in 2006 and 2007, McFadden was twice a finalist in the Heisman race, won twice the Doak Walker Award and was a two-time AP All-America team for the Arkansas Razorback. He also won the Walter Camp Award in 2007.

On March 6, 2008, EA announced that McFadden would be the cover athlete for the NCAA Football 09 edition.

McFadden was selected in the first round, as the 4th overall pick by the Oakland Raiders. He signed a $60 million, six-year contract by the Raiders, including $26 million in guaranteed money.

During the 2008 NFL season, McFadden was played infrequently. His lack of utilization sparked criticisms towards head coach Tom Cable, who responded: "Well what really dictated was the rotation we were in, terms of the game, the flow of the game. I think Justin Fargas played pretty well. It's just those situations present themselves."

McFadden capped the 2008 NFL season with 499 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns with 113 attempts, in addition to the 29 receptions for 285 yards.
