David Robert Duval is an American professional golfer who competes on the PGA Tour. He is a former world no. 1 who won the 2001 British Open. Duval was born in Jacksonville, Florida on November 9, 1971.
Duval had much success in the later part of 1990s. He won 13 PGA Tournaments from 1997 to 2000, culminating with The Open Championship victory on July 22, 2001. That same year he also tied second next to Tiger Woods in The Masters while ending in the top 10 in the PGA Championship.
However, after his Open Championship win, Duval entered into a slump that saw him drop to 80th on the money list in 2002 then to 211th in 2003. It prompted his long hiatus from the game. He reappeared in 2004 at the U.S. Open, but failed to make the cut. He hasn't won any tournaments since.
