Frederick "Fred" Funk is an American professional who competes on the PGA Tour and on the Champions Tour. He was born on June 14, 1956 in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Funk is widely recognized for his accuracy, and many of his contemporaries regard him as the straightest driver ever to play the game. Every year in the past 14 years - except one, Funk can be found in the top five of this particular statistic.
Funk picked up the biggest win of his career on March 28, 2005, when he won The Players Championship. In doing so, he became the oldest player to achieve this feat.
During a Skins game, to satisfy a friendly bet, Funk had to wear a pink floral skirt that Annika Sörenstam pulled out of her golf bag after she outdrove Funk on the par five third hole. The skirt was actually picked out by his wife, Sharon.
