Mini Biography
Hyleas Fountain is an American professional heptathlete. She was born in Columbus, Georgia on January 14, 1981.
Fountain attended college at the University of Georgia where she won the NCAA championships in both the heptathlon and long jump. She competed in the 2005 World Championships and finished 12th. She finished 8th in the 2006 World Indoor Championships.
Fountain participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing and originally finished 3rd, winning the Bronze Medal. She was awarded the Silver Medal when Lyudmila Blonska tested positive on performance enhancing drugs and had her award revoked.
Fountain was ruled out of the 2009 World Championships in Athletics after acquiring an injury during the qualifications.
