 Mini Biography

Iván Calderón Marrero is a Puerto Rican professional boxer. He is currently the Light Flyweight Champion for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and The Ring Magazine.

Calderon became a world champion for the first time on May 3, 2003. As part of the Oscar de la Hoya-Yori Campas undercard, he defeated Eduardo Marquez by technical decision in Round 9 to win the WBO's World Minimum-Weight Title.

After successfully defending the title for the tenth time, he was named the Minimum-Weight Super Champion by the WBO.

After his twelfth successful title defense, on August 25, 2007, Calderon moved up to the Light Flyweight division. He faced Hugo Cázares, in what became one of the greatest fights of his career, for the WBO's Light Flyweight championship. Calderon defeated Cázares by decision and was named the WBO Light Flyweight Champion.

In Ring Magazine's Pound for Pound Top-10 Rankings of the Greatest Boxers, Calderon placed 7th as The Ring's Junior Flyweight Champion.
