Jason Michael Hirsh is a professional baseball pitcher currently signed with the Colorado Rockies in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born in Santa Monica, California on February 20, 1982.
Hirsh entered the 2003 Amateur Entry Draft and was selected by the Houston Astros in the second round, as the 59th pick. In his professional debut, Hirsh dominated the New York-Penn League with the Tri-City ValleyCats. He went 3-1 with 1.95 ERA, and held batters to a .175 average. In just 32.1 innings he had strikeouts.
In 2006, Hirsh went to Triple-A with the Round Rock Express. There he became noted for having the most refined pitching repertoires in Triple-A, going 13-2, including a 12-game win marathon which became a franchise record. He had a 2.10 ERA and 118 strikeouts which both led the league, and he held batters to a .193 batting average.
On August 12, 2006, Hirsh made his ML debut with the Houston Astros. He started 9 games and won 3 of them. On December 12, 2006, he was traded the Colorado Rockies, along with Willy Taveras and Taylor Buchholz for Jason Jennings and Miguel Asencio. For the 2007 and 2008 seasons, he was Colorado's designated no. 4 starter.
