Jason Scott Marquis is a professional baseball pitcher currently signed with the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Marquis had originally signed a letter of intent to play for the Hurricanes of the University of Miami, however, he opted out after he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the first round, as the 35th overall pick in the 1996 Baseball Draft.
Since making his MLB debut on June 6, 2000 for the Atlanta Braves, Marquis has played for a number of Major League organizations. After Atlanta, he has played for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Cubs and signed with the Colorado Rockies on January 6, 2009.
Marquis' pitching arsenal consists of a sinker and slider, an occasional four-seam fastball and curve ball. He relies mainly on his sinker, which he throws harder than most and has plenty of movement on the pitch.
