John William Danks is a professional baseball pitcher currently signed as pitcher for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born in Austin, Texas on April 15, 1985.
Danks was drafted originally by the Texas Rangers in the first round, as the ninth overall pick during the 2003 MLB Draft. In 2006, he was involved in a three for two players trade that sent him to the White Sox.
In 2007 while playing in the minors, he became a top prospect for the Chicago White Sox, after which he was selected shortly as the team's fifth starter in the pitching rotation. By 2008, he was able to contribute significantly and ranked among the league leaders in ERA that season while taking no-hit games beyond the fifth inning on several occasions.
His brother, Jordan Cooper Danks was a center field prospect for the Chicago White Sox and a draftee in the 2005 MLB Draft.
