Jorge Luís Cantú Guzmán is a professional baseball player currently signed with the Florida Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born in McAllen, Texas on January 30, 1982. Cantu plays first baseman and bats and throws right-handed.
Cantú made his major league debut in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, hitting a batting average of .301, with two homers and 17 RBIs in 50 games played. He was traded on July 28, 2007 to the Cincinnati Reds along with Shaun Cumberland, Brian Shackelford and Calvin Medlock. After a brief stint with the San Francisco Giants in 2008, he signed a 1-year, $4.5 million contract with the Florida Marlins in the 2008 off-season.
