Kevin Everett is a former professional football player who last played for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on February 5, 1982.
On September 9, 2007, in a game against the Denver Broncos, Everett attempted a tackle against kickoff return man Domenik Hixon. The play resulted in Everett sustaining a catastrophic neck injury. The aftermath required him to be transported off the field by ambulance to undergo emergency surgery at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital.
On September 10, 2007 in a televised press conference, Dr. John Marzo described the injury as "a fracture and dislocation of the cervical spine, resulting in injury to the spinal cord". Although the initial description was characterized as "life-threatening" and that Everett would sustain "permanent" neurological damage, on December 23, 2007, on a Sunday, Kevin walked in front of a number of fans on the field of Ralph Wilson Stadium. It was a home game against the New York Giants, which ironically included the Giants' new player - Domenik Hixon.
