Kyle Lynn Farnsworth is a professional baseball player currently signed as a relief pitcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born in Wichita, Kansas on April 14, 1976.
Farnsworth was drafted in the 47th round by the Chicago Cubs during the 1994 Amateur Draft. After spending considerable time in the Cubs' minor league system, he made his Major League debut for the Cubs in 1999. In 2005, Farnsworth was traded to the Detroit Tigers. That same season, he was again traded to the Atlanta Braves then to the New York Yankees in 2006.
On July 30, 2008, Farnsworth was traded by the Yankees to the Detroit Tigers for catcher Ivan Rodriguez and shortly was cut off from the team. He signed a two-year, $9.25 million deal with the Kansas City Royals on December 13, 2008.
