 Mini Biography

Lucas Hendley Glover is an American golfer who competes on the PGA Tour. He turned professional in 2001. He won the 2009 U.S. Open, his first major title, over Phil Mickelson, Ricky Barnes, and David Duval.

 Early Life

Glover was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University from 1998 until 2001, where he majored in communication studies. While in Clemson, he was named to the 1st Team All-America twice, in 2000 and 2001. In 2001, he became a member of the 2001 United States Walker Cup team.

Later in 2001, Glover turned professional.

Career (Pro, College, HS, Olympic, International, Contracts, Earnings)

Glover turned professional in 2001 and won the Sunnehanna Amateur. He played on the Nationwide Tour in 2002 and 2003, winning the Gila River Classic also in 2003 and finished 17th on the Money List. His success earned for him a promotion to the PGA Tour.

In 2004, Glover played in 30 events on the PGA Tour making 17 cuts and posting two top-10 finishes. He finished in 134th position on the money list with $557,453. He was forced to go back to Q School, where he was on the outside looking in until he knocked his approach shot to within two feet on the final hole to regain his card.

In 2005, Glover broke through with his first career PGA Tour victory at the FUNAI Classic at the Walt Disney World Resort by holing a 35 yard bunker shot on the 18th for birdie to avoid a playoff with Tom Pernice Jr. He went on to finish 30th on the money list with earnings of $2,050,068.

In 2006, Glover had nine top-10 finishes and finished 21st on the money list. He has been ranked in and out of the Top 50 of Official World Golf Rankings.

In 2009, Glover made a very surprising victory at the Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York. Besting Phil Mickelson, Ricky Barnes, and David Duval by two strokes, Glover claimed the 2009 U.S. Open as his first Major Championship. Previously he was ranked 71st in the Official World Golf Ranking and never made the cut in his three previous U.S. Open appearances. The win took him to the 18th spot in the World Ranking. This was the second U.S. Open to be played at the Bethpage Black Course; the first was won by Tiger Woods in 2002.
