Lucas Patrick McCown is a professional football quarterback currently signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He is the younger brother of Josh McCown, a quarterback who plays for the Carolina Panthers.
McCown was drafted out of Louisiana Tech by the Cleveland Browns during the 2004 NFL Draft. He was a late selection, in the fourth round as the 106th overall pick. After spending his rookie season at Cleveland, starting four games in 2004, McCown was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the weekend of the 2005 NFL Draft. He was assigned as a backup quarterback to Jeff Garcia, and got his chance to start after Garcia got injured in week 13 of the 2007 NFL season.
McCown played in only two games (vs. Carolina and vs. San Diego) for Tampa Bay during the 2008 NFL Season. He saw reserve action in a game against San Diego on December 21, 2008.
On September 5, 2009 McCown was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
