 Mini Biography

Marion Barber III is a National Football League (NFL) running back currently signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He was born on June 9, 1983 in Plymouth, Minnesota.

Barber had a bad start in his 2005 rookie season. Due to injury and several fumbles he ended at the bottom of the depth chart. He got his chance to play when starter RB Julius Jones got injured and backup RB Anthony Thomas was seen as ineffective. He then impressed his team with 95-yards against the Seahawks and 127 yards against the Cardinals. His improved pass-blocking and special teams abilities helped cement his position as backup running back for the rest of the season.

Marion Barber is a specialist in breaking tackles or running over defenders, reflective of his North - South rushing style. Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson has noted that Barber is the hardest running back in the NFL to bring down, and is known to many fans as "Marion the Barbarian".

Barber was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007. He is the older brother of Houston Texans safety Dominique Barber and the son of former New York Jets running back Marion Barber, Jr.
