Michael Dwayne Vick is a professional football player currently signed as a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed on a one year contract worth $1.6 million by the Eagles on August 13, 2009, following 18 months in prison for his involvement in an illegal dog fighting ring.

Vick was drafted out of Virginia Tech as the first overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons during the 2001 NFL Draft. He became the franchise face of Atlanta led the Falcons to the playoffs twice. He became renowned for his remarkable playing style: as a quarterback Vick is known for frequently running the ball, and ranks third among quarterbacks in career rushing yards.

In 2007, Vick was charged by federal authorities with the felony charges of operating an unlawful six-year long interstate dog fighting venture at his 15-acre property in Surry County, Virginia. He was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison, and began his incarceration in November 2007.
