Boggs was promoted on June 6, 2008 to the St. Louis Cardinals as a substitute for Mike Parisi. Previously, he was playing for the Memphis Redbirds, the Cardinals' affiliate in AAA minor league baseball. Boggs made his first start and got his first victory on June 10, 2008 against the Cincinnati Reds. He pitched 5 innings, giving up four hits and two runs.
