Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima , or simply known as Ronaldo, is a Brazilian football superstar who is currently in free agency. He is famously nicknamed "The Phenomenon", "O Fenômeno" in Portuguese or "El Fenómeno" in Spanish. He was born in Bento Ribeiro, Rio de Janeiro on September 18, 1976.
Ronaldo is arguably one of the best footballers in the past decade. He holds the record as the highest World Cup goalscorer with 15 goals, surpassing Gerd Müller's 14 goals record at the 2006 tournament. He has won thrice the FIFA World Player of the Year Award, becoming the only player besides Zinedine Zidane to have won the award 3 times. He also won 2 European Footballer of the Year awards, in 1997 and 2002.
In March 2004, Pelé named Ronaldo to the FIFA 100, a list that comprises the greatest living footballers. France Football listed him into their best starting eleven of all time in 2007.
