Stewart Ernest Cink is a professional golfer who currently competes on the PGA Tour. He won his first Major Championships title when he defeated Tom Watson at the 138th British Open at Turnberry, Scotland.
Cink turned professional in 1995. He joined the PGA Tour in 1997, winning the Canon Greater Hartford Open in his debut season. On the next couple of seasons, he performed consistently, racking up five PGA Tour wins by 2008. He had a career year in 2004, finishing fifth-place on the money list and winning the MCI Heritage and at the WGC-NEC Invitational, his most prestigious career win at the time. He also made three Nationwide Tour wins in 1996 and won the unofficial 2006 Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge, along with Zach Johnson and Scott Verplank.
On July 19, 2009, Cink captured his first and only major championship title when he took home the Claret Jug from the 138th Open Championship at Turnberry, Scotland. Cink had birdied the 72nd hole, beating Tom Watson by six strokes in a four-hole playoff.
Cink was born in Huntsville, Alabama on May 21, 1973. While grewing up in Florence he attended Bradshaw High School. He attended Georgia Tech for college where he played golf for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets team.
